About Colonist
We're building the biggest digital board game platform on the internet. Last year, our players spent 2,466 years playing 45 million games on our Settlers of Catan alternative. We're a fully remote, asynchronous team spread across multiple continents, focused on crafting extremely polished digital board games that people truly love.
About The Role
As a UI/UX Designer at Colonist, you will take ownership of the app's visual and interactive experience, ensuring every design is of exceptional quality and elevates usability to the next level. Your mission will be to proactively enhance the interface, solve complex design challenges, and deliver solutions that resonate with players. You'll play a crucial role in defining and iterating on the app's design to meet the highest standards of excellence and usability, driving significant improvements.
What You'll Do
Collaborate with a dynamic, cross-functional team to shape impactful design decisions that elevate the user experience
Independently deliver UI/UX designs that set a high standard of quality and creativity
Drive innovation by continuously improving the app's user interface and overall visual design, ensuring a seamless experience for players
Anticipate user interactions and solve design challenges effectively, leveraging your expertise without relying on extensive testing or interviews
Use tools like Figma and other cutting-edge design platforms to ideate, create, and refine designs
Take a hands-on approach with the codebase when needed, making direct improvements to align design and functionality
Requirements
5+ years of experience as a UI/UX Designer, preferably on game platforms.
Proficiency in Figma and additional design tools, such as Sketch and Adobe XD
In-depth understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices
Extensive experience conducting market research
Ability to leverage data insights to drive design
Strong problem-solving skills for creating intuitive and engaging user experiences
Familiarity with testing methodologies to evaluate and validate design changes
Comfortable with remote and asynchronous working environments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Nice to Have
Expertise in animations and micro-interactions
Experience leading design sprints
Familiarity with Discord and GitHub for project collaboration.
Knowledge of CSS frameworks and libraries
