The Vines Hospital is currently seeking PRN medical records coder.
The Coder will review medical records and abstract information and data for correct ICD-10 code assignment, and enter the final diagnosis in the computer system. The Coder performs technical and clerical health information department functions in accordance with departmental and facility policies under the supervision of the Manager of HIM/Medical Records. The Coder assists with assembly and analysis of discharge medical records. Maintains filing of medical records and assists the Director of HIM/Medical Records with Release of Information.

QualificationsEducation: An A.S. degree in Health Information Management from an accredited two-year program in a college required. a B.S./B.A. degree in Health Information Management from an accredited four-year program in a college/university OR graduate from an accredited coding program with one year coding experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
License: Registered Health Information Administrator certificate (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician certificate (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician (CCS-P) certificate or eligible to sit for any of the above exams within six (6) months of hire. All certifications are accredited by the American Health Information Management Association. May also hold a current Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certificate or eligible to sit for exam within six (6) months of hire. This certification is accredited by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
