James Irwin Elementary School (Grades K-5)

PART-TIME—TEACHER-IN-TRAINING/INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT

1. JIES Teachers-in-Training/Instructional Assistants are champions for students.
2. The Teacher-in-Training/Instructional Assistant works closely with the classroom teacher, and he/she also teaches a small reading and math group daily.
3. The Teacher-in-Training/Instructional Assistants receive the same extensive training and coaching that the classroom teachers do, and this gives them the opportunity to "have a foot in the door" for being promoted to classroom teachers as openings become available.
4. 11:30-4:00 M-F

Salary:

ASSISTANTS

• Not In-field $17.00
• In-field $18.00 per hour
  • IN-FIELD REQUIREMENTS Instructional staff must hold at least one of the following in the subject area in which they have been assigned to teach to be considered in-field:
    • Endorsement on a CO teaching license in ASSIGNED subject area
    • Degree (B.A. or higher) in ASSIGNED subject area
    • 24 semester credit hours in ASSIGNED subject area
    • Passing score on a State Board of Education approved content exam (currently the ETS Praxis Series) in ASSIGNED subject area

Physical Requirements:

This role requires physical stamina, as you will spend most of your day standing, walking, or moving around the classroom. There may also be occasional lifting of light materials and equipment as needed for classroom setup.
