Job Description

New York Life is looking for Financial Consultant to join our team in our Houston office. This person will actively seek out and engage prospective customers to sell our product and/or services.

Responsibilities for Financial Consultant at New York Life typically include :
  • Meet with clients to assess their insurance needs, financial goals, and risk tolerance, gathering detailed information on their financial situation.
  • Recommend suitable insurance products from New York Life’s portfolio, explaining options, features, and benefits to help clients make informed decisions.
  • Develop sales strategies, set objectives, and proactively seek new clients through networking, community involvement, and lead generation.
  • Guide clients through the application process, collect necessary information, complete paperwork, and coordinate with underwriters to ensure smooth policy issuance.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by conducting regular policy reviews and providing ongoing support, adjusting coverage as clients’ needs evolve.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and company policies, ensuring that clients’ insurance plans meet legal requirements and uphold confidentiality.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay informed on industry trends, product updates, and sales techniques, enhancing effectiveness and service quality.
  • Work with other New York Life professionals, including underwriters and financial advisors, to provide clients with comprehensive financial solutions.
Qualifications for Financial Consultant at New York Life typically include :
  • Prior experience in sales, customer service, or a related field is preferred, with a track record of success in meeting or exceeding goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for building relationships with clients and explaining complex insurance products.
  • Ability to listen to clients’ needs, assess their financial goals, and recommend suitable insurance products.
  • Strong drive to achieve personal and professional goals with the ability to work independently and stay motivated.
  • Capacity to assess client needs, evaluate potential risks, and offer tailored solutions.
  • Familiarity with life insurance, annuities, and retirement planning is advantageous, though comprehensive training will be provided.
  • Commitment to adhering to industry regulations, maintaining client confidentiality, and practicing with integrity.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Must be willing to obtain a state Life & Health insurance license if not already licensed. New York Life provides sponsorship and support for licensing.
  • (Preferred): Fluency in additional languages, such as Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese, is a plus for connecting with diverse clients.
