The University of Florida, Aortic Disease Center, is seeking a professional Videographer with a flexible schedule to accommodate filming around surgical schedules as needed. This role requires expertise in video production, filming techniques, and post-production editing. Must be comfortable in a hospital operating room setting, as this position is expected to capture high quality surgical procedures for educational and training purposes, and will work closely with surgeons, medical educators, and media teams to record, edit, and produce surgical learning videos that will enhance medical training and patient care.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

Surgical Videography & Production

  • Record high-resolution videos of surgical procedures in the operating room.
  • Operate and set up professional camera equipment, lighting, and audio to ensure optimal recording quality.
  • Coordinate with surgeons and OR staff to determine the best angles and viewpoints for capturing surgical techniques.
  • Utilize remote-controlled cameras, wearable devices (e.g., GoPro, head-mounted cameras), and robotic filming systems as needed.

Video Editing & Content Creation

  • Edit surgical footage into educational videos, including annotations, voiceovers, and animations to enhance learning.
  • Apply color correction, stabilization, and sound enhancement for a professional-quality final product.
  • Organize and archive video files in secure, HIPAA-compliant storage systems.

Collaboration & Training Support

  • Work closely with surgeons, educators, and medical trainees to develop customized surgical training content.
  • Attend surgical training sessions, conferences, and workshops to capture live demonstrations.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for filming surgeries, including camera placement and lighting adjustments.

Compliance and Equipment Maintenance

  • Maintain and troubleshoot video equipment, ensuring readiness for surgical recordings.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies in surgical videography and medical education.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in audio/video production.
  • Advanced skills in video editing software.
  • Knowledge of motion graphics and 3D medical animation.
