Job Description



AECOM  is seeking a Traffic Engineer Intern  to join the transportation team in the Austin, Texas office.

This position is expected to begin in January 2025

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Builds analytic and design skills.
  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Performs work under an agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision. 

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in  civil engineering  and must have completed at least one year  of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Qualifications

:

  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team for Traffic Signal Design.
  • Transport and Traffic Modelling Experience using modelling platforms like VISSIM & Synchro.
  • Experience in Road Safety Audits (RSAs) and Road Safety Assessments.
  • Experience in Traffic and Transport Impact Assessment.
  • Experience in strategic design development for different project scales (local, intersection, street) is desirable but not essential. 
  • An understanding of project management for small to medium-sized projects, across transport planning and/ or transport and traffic engineering and modeling, is strongly desirable but
