Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is looking to hire two (2) qualified individuals to join our dynamic, multidisciplinary team. The Senior Staff Social Worker will provide comprehensive clinical, consultative, emergency, and case management services while adhering to all relevant national ethical standards and state and federal laws regarding service delivery, record-keeping, documentation, and other professional activities.

Essential Functions

  • Direct case management for and provide counseling to patients.
  • Provide urgent and emergency intervention (including possible evenings and weekends), and consultation to patients and families.
  • Participate in training programs (e.g., selection of trainees, presentations and seminars, clinical supervision, and evaluation).
  • Develop and conduct psycho-social outreach programs.
  • Serve as liaison to assigned University Health Services and university departments which maintain current information and good working relationships benefiting students.
  • Coordination of emergency response services.
  • Represent the department by participating in staff and committee meetings and other university committees.
  • Provide consultation and assistance to other staff in area of special expertise (e.g., substance abuse, case management, etc.).
  • Keep abreast of current trends and developments in clinical services and student affairs by participating in professional development (e.g., conferences, membership in state and national professional associations, reading professional literature, and other continuing education activities.
  • Confer and consult with Director, Associate Directors and Assistant Directors to ensure compliance with departmental and university policies and procedures to make critical decisions.
  • Supervise the clinical operations of the Care Management Team, including assigning work.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

Master’s Degree must be in Social Work.

Required Trainings/Certifications

  • State of Ohio Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or licensed eligible (must be obtained within six (6) months of employment)
  • State of Ohio Licensed Independent Social Worker-Supervisor (LISW-S) (must be obtained within six (6) months of employment).

Required Experience

Five (5) years of post-master’s counseling and c ase management experience

Additional Qualifications Considered

• Supervised internship or work experience in a university counseling center, mental health agency, or related professional setting.

• Experience providing psychotherapy, diagnostic assessment, and outreach.

• Commitment to professional ethical standards and quality care.
