Job Description

Job Summary

Applies basic and some advanced technical skills and knowledge to perform all of the primary work operations required to chemically clean to remove grease, scale, dirt, and other foreign matter from material or parts for operational aircraft applications.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks that are simple to moderately complex requiring some skill, experience and judgment to complete relative to cleaning parts manually or by operating automated clean line equipment. Works under close to general supervision and determines plans and actions from standard procedural alternatives.
  • Reviews work instructions, operations manuals and other documentation to define the requirement for the processing of the parts are material to be cleaned.
  • Loads objects on conveyor that carries them through series of chemical and rinsing baths, or places objects on racks or in containers and immerses objects in chemical and rinsing solutions.
  • Starts the process equipment and monitor the process line equipment to ensure proper overall operation. Makes adjustments to equipment as required to ensure the objects undergoing cleaning are processed to the applicable specifications.
  • Monitors the chemical solution in the process tanks to maintain the specified liquid level and chemical mixture of the process tanks. Adds specified amount of chemical to solutions as required.
  • Drains, cleans, and refills tanks with chemicals on a periodic basis or as otherwise instructed by management.

Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirements : Minimum High School or GED. If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.

Experience Requirements : 2-4 year(s) in a manufacturing environment.

Skills and Competencies

  • Reads and processes specifications and work instructions.
  • Knowledgeable of processing equipment and powered lifting vehicles as required.
  • Capable of using standard hand tools and special tools or equipment for the assigned area of work.
  • Respirator training, certification and fit test. Must be clean shaven at the respirator seal.
  • Ability to learn tasks and processes that are not related to the primary job assignment.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can vary from loud to a more moderate level.

  • Works under general supervision.
  • Work is reviewed for completion to quality standards and schedule requirements.
  • May adapt techniques and tools to meet special needs with approval from management.
