Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The photographer works within the Menards Media Production team to stage scenes and photograph products in studio and on location. The photographer also edits and composites photos, assembles products, coordinates talent and locations for photo shoots; along with other requested projects

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operating DSLR cameras on manual settings
  • Setting up photography shoots for products, portraits and lifestyle type assignments with lighting equipment both in the studio and on locations
  • Organizing Talent, locations, equipment and products needed for daily photoshoots
  • Maintaining regular assignment workload while also being able to take on last minute requests while hitting all deadlines
  • Editing and compositing photos, uploading and archiving photos
  • Coordinating with several Team Members and departments on various projects

 


Skills/Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Visual Communication, Advertising or Communications is recommended; or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with Professional DSLR cameras and interchangeable lenses
  • Studio and field photography experience, especially product photography
  • Thorough understanding of exposure controls including shutter speed, aperture, ISO
  • Understanding of camera equipment including Professional DSLR cameras, lenses, external flash, speedlights, tripods, color correction and gray cards, filters, reflectors, and grid lights
  • Proficiency with lighting equipment including flash photography lights, experience with 3-point lighting, for indoor and outdoor products, and lighting for portraits and product photography
  • Proficiency with editing software, Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop
  • Must be hardworking, organized, a self-motivator, and able to learn and take direction
  • Strong ability to multitask
  • Good decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work on projects solo and also with a team
  • Must be accurate, have a good eye for details, and an ability to be creative with product shots
  • Experience with decorating and staging sets, and with product assembly
  • Home improvement and/or set building experience and ability to use power tools strongly recommended
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Occasional heavy lifting required
  • Familiarity with Menards Stores and products is very helpful
  • Must be CREATIVE!
  • Must work within designated normal office hours - Monday-Friday, 40-45 hours/week 45+ when projects dictate. -at the Corporate Office in Eau Claire, WI (remote work is not offered)
