Position Description

Under the general supervision of the MRI Manager, Lead MRI Technologist, and following established procedures, performs diagnostic procedures to assist the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of illness and injuries by using magnetic resonance imaging equipment. The MRI Technologist is responsible for maintaining a high level of quality control and ensuring that all procedures are performed according to departmental standards. Responsibilities include patient positioning, explaining procedures to patients, maintaining equipment, and assisting radiologists during MRI-guided procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in MRI imaging techniques, excellent patient care abilities, and the capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews and/or records pertinent history and supporting clinical data
  • Positions patient and instructs patient regarding the procedure
  • Operates MRI equipment following established protocols and procedures
  • Recognizes and documents anatomical structures and pathology on MRI images
  • Maintains quality control of MRI equipment
  • Assists radiologists with MRI-guided procedures as needed
  • All essential functions performed reflect age specific needs of patients
  • Fosters patient and family centered care
  • Documents all necessary information in the patient's medical record
  • Follows all safety protocols and maintains a clean work environment
  • Participates in ongoing education and training to maintain professional certification

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology required, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • ARRT certification in MRI required
  • 2+ years of experience in a hospital or clinical setting
  • Strong attention to detail and technical proficiency
  • Excellent patient care skills and communication abilities
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathophysiology
  • Ability to recognize abnormal MRI appearances
  • Experience with various MRI equipment and techniques
  • Current BLS certification
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some weekends and holidays as needed
