Through therapeutic and educational offerings, practical services, and a roster of social enterprises, Homeboy fosters healing and builds self-sufficiency while addressing the root causes of poverty and incarceration.

Position Summary:
The Foundation Relations Officer is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to secure and grow foundation support for Homeboy Industries. This includes grant writing, supporting foundation relations, and collaborating across departments to ensure funding proposals and reports are compelling, accurate, and timely. The Foundation Relations Officer will serve as an author for general operating grant proposals, assist in stewardship and reporting, and support the Director of Foundation Relations in strengthening institutional partnerships. • Write stewardship reports and meet reporting deadlines by establishing priorities and coordinating internal workflows.
  • Research and assess new institutional funding opportunities that align with Homeboy's mission and goals.
  • Maintain and track grant activity and milestones in the donor database (Raiser’s Edge), ensuring deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to support proposal development and grant implementation.
  • Participate in Private Giving and Advancement team meetings and serve on special committees as needed.
  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding institutional fundraising targets and expanding Homeboy's visibility among foundation partners.
Additional Impact Areas:
  • Support the Director of Foundation Relations in developing strategies for foundation engagement and stewardship.
  • Stay current on trends in institutional philanthropy and integrate best practices into proposals and reporting.
  • Represent Homeboy Industries in meetings with potential and current institutional funders when appropriate.
Education and Experience Required:
  • 2+ years of experience in grant writing, nonprofit fundraising, or a related field. Familiarity within the issue areas of arts, youth, workforce development, or mental health preferred.
  • Proven ability to write compelling grant proposals and reports.
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/donor databases (experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred).
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and committed to excellence.
  • Deep alignment with Homeboy Industries' mission and a passion for social justice and community transformation.
Compensation:
$70,000-$75,000
Salary to be negotiated depending on qualifications and depth of experience. This is a full-time exempt position offering a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, life and retirement account. This position also includes generous paid time off package covering sick, vacation, and 16 paid holidays.
