Job Description

This position works a 48/96 hour schedule. The successful candidate will be required to respond to and mitigate emergencies such as fires, fire alarms, medical emergencies, hazardous materials, and other calls to protect life and property. This position will participate in fire prevention and training activities as well as maintain the fire station and firefighting equipment. The candidate must be able to respond and effectively handle emergencies effectively and professionally both on and off site. This position provides an extraordinary level of Customer Service and Hospitality to Summit and Skywalker Properties clientele and may have to support multiple customer service functions

Requirements

  • Provide emergency services, such as fire suppression, basic life support and rescue services.
  • Provide non-emergency services, such as inspecting fire protection systems, maintaining fire breaks and roads, and participating in vegetation management mitigation efforts.
  • Assist with OSHA training for company employees in CPR, first aid and fire extinguisher use.
  • Prepare and maintain various inspections, logs, and reports.
  • Plan, organize, and complete various projects,
  • Provide special event emergency services standby for Summit events, movie releases, picnic, and company parties.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, protect company assets.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
  • Represent company in a professional manner while on and off duty, including appropriate social media content.

Requirements:

Education / Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPAT physical skills test completed within the last 12 months.
  • California State Firefighter 1 certification highly preferred.
  • Experience as an EMT preferred.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as scheduled on a 48/96-hour shift rotation.

Required Skills / Competencies:

  • Must hold certification as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-1).
  • California Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Acquire Class B, or Class C “Restricted for Fire Fighting Vehicles” California Driver’s License within 1 year of hire
  • Complete Driver Operator 1-A course within 6 months of hire.
  • Acquire California State Firefighter 1 Certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Strong manipulative abilities. 

Preferred Skills / Competencies:

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Proven ability to interact effectively within a department, across and outside the organization.
  • Vegetation management and/or other fire prevention experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to be proficient in different software configurations that directly support fire and safety. 
  • Assist with diagnostic system checks and symptom analysis. Investigate mechanical equipment, water system failures and report finding to appropriate group.

Availability:

  • Willingness to work unscheduled shifts as needed and/or during an emergency situation.
  • May be required to return to work in event of an emergency.
  • May be mandated to work extra shifts when staffing of the firehouse isn’t sufficient.

The physical requirements for this position include:

  • Time Spent on Computer : Approximately 10% of the day is spent reading, writing reports, and accessing information.

  • Lifting Requirements : The role requires the ability to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and full structural turnout gear, with the capacity to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Standing, Sitting, Walking : The job requires standing for extended periods, walking, and hiking, sometimes for up to 24 hours. On average, these activities account for about 40% of the workday.

  • Repetitive Physical Activity : The role involves working in harsh conditions, including high heat/cold, smoke, and confined spaces for up to 24 hours. This physical activity typically makes up around 20% of the day.

Benefits

Compensation: approx $80,000-$84,000 per year (hourly position + OT)
