Job Summary
Our client is seeking a skilled Estimator to assess costs for roofing projects with precision and efficiency. This role involves analyzing blueprints, specifications, and proposals to prepare comprehensive time, cost, and labor estimates for roofing services. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and extensive knowledge of roofing materials and techniques. You will work closely with potential clients, conduct site surveys, review project documents, and translate project details into accurate, competitive proposals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Estimation:
Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop accurate estimates.
Conduct site visits to gather necessary information and assess project scope, identifying required materials and understanding project complexities.
Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and clients to ensure a clear understanding of project requirements and constraints.
Utilize estimating software (e.g., Edge) and tools to compile detailed and competitive bids.
Maintain thorough records of estimates, proposals, and bid documents.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, permits, and other relevant expenses.
Provide clients with comprehensive quotes and explain the scope of work and associated costs.
Negotiate contracts with clients to secure favorable terms and profitable work.
Stay informed on industry trends, material costs, and best practices to maintain accurate and current estimates.
Support project execution through cost tracking and variance analysis.
Assist with project management tasks such as change order proposals, as needed.
2. Client Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients to ensure satisfaction and identify new opportunities.
Conduct regular client meetings to gather feedback and address concerns.
3. Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with operations and finance teams to align project estimates with business goals.
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment on project expectations.
Review workload and backlog with operations to confirm tentative start dates.
Conduct thorough handoffs/presentations to the project management team.
Qualifications & Skills
Education and Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimation, preferably in the roofing or construction industry.
Bachelors degree in business administration, construction management, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
Skills:
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Xactimate, PlanSwift, Edge) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Exceptional mathematical and analytical skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
Effective communication and negotiation skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation for site visits.
