The Distribution/ Logistics Manager is responsible for coordinating the storage, transportation and delivery of goods.  The manager will have the skills necessary to oversee the detailed planning, coordination, and execution of a multi-functional logistics operation comprised of personnel, equipment, suppliers, locations and facilities. This manager provides leadership, support, advocacy, and vision to a group of Logistics staff who are responsible for daily warehouse operations to meet goals and growth objectives established by the Company.

Responsibilities

  • Advanced background in new distribution center setup.
  • Has advanced knowledge on storage/racking requirements.
  • Ability to lead multiple distribution locations.
  • Measure and report key service level deliverables and performance indicators on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure operational goals are met. Drives improvement to all key metrics required by the business.
  • Act as functional expert and leader, collaborating closely with other departments to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Perform pricing and cost/service analysis, and owns the carrier management processes such as selection, qualification, business reviews, and performance evaluation.
  • Lead yearly logistic cost out/management initiatives. 
  • Identify operational and technological factors that impact customer satisfaction and revenue, and proactively make recommendations for strategic change and/or process improvement.
  • Manages warehouse and/or 3pl partners. 
  • Responsible for shipping department ensuring customer on time delivery performance is met.
  • Regularly interacts with senior management on executive-level matters related to growth, profitability, and operational efficiencies.
  • Monitor and support freight payment process issues between carriers and the Company, related to rejected freight bills, short payments, rate discrepancies, general aging issues, etc.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability while handling day-to-day challenges confidently, adjusting to multiple demands, and shifting priorities in an environment of ambiguity and rapid change.
  • Promote a working environment that encourages employee involvement to achieve operational excellence.
  • Actively participates in providing a safe and harmonious working environment for all employees.
  • Assures compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate governance policies, regulations, and laws, and Big Ass Fans’ programs and policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related area (Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations Management, etc.); a Master’s degree a plus
  • 5-10 years of experience in a logistics/transportation management role within a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory management, supply chain management, transportation, and distribution center operations
  • Experience as a Manager with direct reporting responsibilities
  • Prior management of $10MM+ annual logistics spend
  • Works in sync with Trade Compliance to ensure conformity with import and export laws in all countries in which the Company operates and ships
  • Previous hands-on experience in carrier management and negotiations
  • In-depth experience in freight cost analysis
  • Ability to create, justify and manage local and regional logistics projects that ensure continuous improvement to operations
  • Must be able to prepare, write, read, and make professional presentations demonstrating effective communications language and skills to all levels in the company
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and management skills are a must
  • Ability to engage and influence direct and indirect reports and peers
  • Proficient in ERP, MRP, and WMS, Epicor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and G-Suite products
